Peter Anderson

Portfolio

The Indigenous officer is responsible for:

  • ensuring that the concerns of indigenous postgraduates are brought to the attention of the MPAEC

  • liaising with the CAPA Indigenous Peoples’ Officer in
relation to issues pertaining to indigenous
    postgraduates

  • liaising with the appropriate indigenous bodies in order to maximise the participation of indigenous students in higher education

  • other responsibilities as may be determined by the
    MPAEC from time to time.

Background

I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Deakin University, which I completed in 1998. Since graduating I have been involved in Indigenous education in various roles from project coordinating Indigenous units for Open Universities Australia, and lecturing at Deakin University to policy development for the Queensland Government.

Research

The focus of my PhD research is Higher Education administration and Higher Education policy in Australia and the effects of globalisation and internationalisation has on administration, curriculum and policy within Australian Higher Education Institutions. Although so far in my experience this may change!!

Personal interests

When I am not researching, I enjoy catching up with friends and family as I find I don’t have that luxury being a fulltime PhD student. I also love travelling and do so as much as I can, although this particular interest has taken a back seat due to lack of funds!

What I particularly like doing is not having to think critically about anything, this would have to be at the top of my list.
