Aptitude test for prospective PhD students

In our May issue we ran a list of 10 questions to enable examiners to determine the suitability of a student for PhD candidature. Courtesy of John Read from Psychology – here are two supplementary questions.

Question 11: Psychology
Define the Mind. Explain how behaviour is produced and suggest what value it has to human existence.

Question 12: Closing Passage
Summarise your answers above to create a general theory of everything. Define an experimental procedure to test your hypotheses. Predict the outcome.
