Postgraduate orientation

The MPA run postgraduate-specific orientation events at the beginning of each semester at a number of campuses.

Caulfield
MPA postgraduate orientation lunch
Date: Wednesday 24 February, 12–2pm
Venue: Room A1.34 (Clayfield Room), Building A Caulfield Campus
Members of the Monash Postgraduate Association (MPA) and current postgraduate students will introduce you to the services, events and seminars for postgraduates and suggest how you can get involved. This is also an opportunity to catch up with volunteers and fellow new students you met during faculty orientation and find out all you need to know about postgraduate life.
Orientation 'coffee club' – Caulfield
Missed postgraduate orientation? Come along to the following session, meet new and returning postgraduates and find out what is available to you as a postgraduate while you enjoy a cup of coffee.

Clayton
MPA postgraduate orientation afternoon tea
Date: Tuesday 23 February,
3–5.30pm
West Wing Banquet Room, Building 10 upstairs, Clayton Campus
Members of the Monash Postgraduate Association (MPA), university staff and current postgraduate students will introduce you to the postgraduate spaces on campus and provide you with strategies for success in your postgraduate studies. This is an opportunity to find out all you need to know about postgraduate life.
Orientation 'coffee club' – Clayton
Missed orientation? Don’t despair. Come along to the MPA orientation 'coffee club' to find out everything you need to know about being a postgraduate at Monash. Staff from the MPA, local and international postgraduates will be there to meet and greet you. This is a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and find out what’s on offer for you around Monash.

Peninsula
"Meet & greet" at Peninsula Library
You are invited to meet your Subject Librarian and Learning Skills Advisor and join us for morning tea. This will include an overview of library resources for your subject, services available for postgraduates and a tour of Peninsula Campus Library.

Academic Saturday
Intensive writing and research skills workshop for part-timers
This workshop is especially designed for local students returning to study at postgraduate level on a part-time basis. It covers the following areas:
Cohesive academic writing
Structuring academic assignments: tasks and considerations
Efficient library research skills

International research postgrads
Student advisers run personalised one-hour sessions for international research postgraduates covering such topics as overseas health cover; regulations and visas; work rights; money matters and tax file numbers.
