Portfolio

General representatives may contribute to the MPA in any of the following ways:-

  • attending the monthly MPAEC meetings, contributing to decision making and voting on issues of concern

  • conducting some background research to support an MPA submission

  • talking to postgraduates in their department/course/faculty to find out what the current issues are

  • contributing to one of the many subcommittees that are created for a specific event/issue

  • volunteering at an MPA orientation, social event or seminar

Background

I completed my undergraduate degree in Communication at Virginia Tech (USA) in 2009 and soon began a career in insurance where I managed customer service teams. Growing up and spending most of my younger years in the southeastern part of the United States, I was eager to explore more of the country and eventually moved to sunny Southern California, then the mountains of Utah. My desire to continue my travels as well as my education and gain skills for a future in management consulting led me to an MBA at the best uni in Australia... Monash! My role with MPAEC provides an opportunity to advocate for my fellow students and be a voice for positive change.

Personal interests

I enjoy anything that gets me outside: camping, hiking, beach volleyball, and exploring Melbourne's famous laneways. I also love live music, puppies, Netflix binges, good food and drink, and capturing scenery and fun moments with friends and family through photography.

Executive Committee

Frequently asked questions

If you are wondering what is involved in being a committee member, or about the annual election process, vist our Committee FAQ page and our election process FAQ page. Committee members are also occasionally co-opted to a position.

MPAEC Cooptions

Sometimes postgraduate members on the MPA Executive Committee complete their studies and leave Monash University part-way through their term of office on the MPAEC. Where a vacancy arises on the MPAEC between annual elections, postgraduates can be coopted to the committee. For information about the cooption process, email the MPA Executive Officer, Jenny Reeder.
