MPA Fitness Program

On paper, it seems like a no-brainer, regular exercise will make you look better, feel stronger and live longer! In reality, it’s hard for many of us to muster the motivation to see it through. But what if we told you the MPA can help out with your fitness routine for free?

The MPA hosts a wide range of weekly and one-off fitness sessions exclusively for Monash postgrads. From yoga, walking groups, and self-defence classes, to cycling groups, tai chi, badminton, soccer and Zumba – we have it all going. All you need to do is tap into our postgrad calendars available on our website to see what’s happening around you.

And if you have a burning desire to start a group activity or sport at your campus – please email mpa-events@monash.edu.

Program Details

Free yoga classes - Caulfield & Clayton

The MPA runs free Hatha yoga classes every week on Caulfield and Clayton campus. No booking is required but keep in mind there are only limited spaces in each class.

Clayton (every Monday)

Time: 4:45pm to 6:15pm
Venue: Seminar Room, Graduate Student Hub, Campbell Hall. Please bring your own yoga mat.

Caulfield(every Thursday)

Time: 10:00am to 11:30am
Venue: Aerobics Room (Monash Sport)

Cycling Group

This MPA cycling group is run by two of our lovely volunteers who have a passion for cycling. Join them for a cycling tour along the main Yarra trail. The route has been designed for all levels of cycling so you do not need to be an experienced cyclist to join this group. You should however have a moderate level of fitness to keep up with the group. There will be a few short breaks in between plus a lunch break.

The cycling tour starts at a bicycle hire location so if you do not have your own bicycle and need to hire one, you can do so at the meeting point. Remember to bring some money along for bike hire and lunch.

Free Badminton

Note: No need to bring equipment, this will be provided. Just bring some water and a towel with you, there are changing facilities available at the sports centre.

Walking Group

Important Information

1) Please check our calendars from time to time as some of these programs and activities are dependent on volunteer and staff availability.

2) The MPA is currently trialing some of these programs so if the take up rate is low, there is a possibility of it being discontinued.

3) The MPA fitness program does not run on national public holidays and university holidays.
