Weekly on a Tuesday, 10-11.30 - sessions alternate between the SPHPM PhD writing group and "Shut Up and Write" sessions.

Arts

Graduate Researchers in Print (GRiP)

GRiP is a program designed to encourage and mobilise research postgraduates to write and publish in their fields. Members work in groups of 6 – 10 postgraduates, assisted by a facilitator. Through the year, the facilitator also runs sessions on various aspects of publishing.

Colloquy

Colloquy is the response of Monash University postgraduates to the need for a forum for postgraduate debate. The aim of the journal is to provide an opportunity for the dissemination of new work in literary and cultural studies and related interdisciplinary fields.

School of Historical Studies - Eras

Eras is an on-line journal edited and produced by postgraduate students from the School of Historical Studies and is a fully refereed journal, with DEST status.

Papers published by Eras are accepted from the following disciplines:

  • History
  • Archaeology and Ancient History
  • Religion and Theology
  • Jewish Civilisation

Submissions from other disciplines with significant historical content will also be considered (e.g. Politics, Literature, Economics, Anthropology).

Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (MEGA)

MEGA provides an active social network for postgraduate students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. They host regular social events, organise educational courses, help ease people into graduate life and act to represent the interests of its members related to departmental issues

CEPA is the postgraduate student group for the Department of Chemical Engineering. They run regular academic and social events for the department.

Civil Engineering Postgraduate Committee (CivilEng PostGrads)

The postgraduate committee for the Department of Civil Engineering organises a range of regular social and academic activities for postgraduates within the department, including seminars, sport events, movie nights, cultural days and an annual conference. In addition, they are able to raise postgraduate issues with the Civil Engineering department.

Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Students Group

The HDR students group was established for Law faculty HDR students in 2001 to

  • discuss issues relevant to the research interests of HDR students
  • foster a collegiate spirit amongst HDR students, and
  • represent the research interests of HDR students in appropriate forums

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Necessary Outlets for Tertiary Research Doctoral Students (NOTDRS) are a postgraduate student group founded to encourage social interaction throughout the many laboratories in the department of biochemistry and molecular biology. You can also find them on Facebook.

Monash University Microbiology Postgrad Society (MUMPS)

MUMPS runs social events in the department which provide students with opportunities to meet and network. In addition, they also provide support and mentoring to all honours and PhD students. The society has a formal committee structure and runs elections once a year.

Faculty of Science Postgraduate Committee

The Faculty of Science Postgraduate Committee consists of representatives of each School in the Faculty. The Committee meets every 6-8 weeks, normally with the Faculty Research and Research Training Manager and sometimes with the Associate Dean - Graduate Studies. This provides a formal opportunity for HDR students to raise issues and provide feedback on all matters related to HDR students.
