I am currently studying a Double Masters by coursework in International Relations and Journalism at Monash. I previously completed my Bachelors of International Relations at La Trobe University. I hope to secure a career that incorporates making positive change in my community and feeding my passion for writing.
I grew up on Larrakia land in Darwin NT. My family ties stretch throughout the NT all the way down to Gurindji country in the Victoria River region of Wave Hill. You may be familiar with the Gurindji peoples form the song ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ which tells the story of Vincent Lingiari and the events of the Gurindji Strike or Wave Hill Walk-Off that sparked the broader movement for indigenous equality and land rights in Australia.
I am excited to be the Indigenous Officer for MGA as I feel passionately about addressing the specific needs of Indigenous students studying at Monash. I was the first in my family to move interstate to study at university and would be interested to discover more about all of your study journeys and how I can help to enhance your experience as a graduate student. Please drop me an email if you have any queries, concerns, or just want to have a yarn!
Outside of study I enjoy reading and playing board games with friends. I have a big family back in the NT and often travel home to spend time with them. Together my family enjoys going fishing and crabbing while camping out on the beach in our shack. Cooking up a big feed of mud crabs and barramundi is what growing up in the NT is all about!
